This is a set of eight small plates made using a technique called “inban.” The bold 鯉 koi Carp designs are unique. Each koi is slightly different, making them interesting to look at. There are small bubbles on the surface and rough areas on the back, but that is part of the charm of these antique items.
Since they are all handmade, each one is slightly different. While they were previously all handmade, this technique has made it possible to mass-produce detailed designs. However, unlike modern factory mass production, each plate is handmade, and their unique atmosphere has made them popular.
