This is a very old and quaint carved wooden frog doll.
This item was carved as a hobby of a rural woodcutter. The powerful and realistic chisel marks are very impressive.
A parent and child frog.
Frogs are also the messengers of the gods who bring good harvests and rain, and also symbolize the prosperity of offspring because they lay many eggs at one time. In Japan, frogs have also been considered lucky creatures because they are believed to bring "safe return," "good fortune return," and "money return.
