Japanese antique calligraphy "The Teachings of Zhu Xi" bamboo wood beautiful curving signboard, 1890s W403.5in/W1025cm.

This is a very rare signboard with Kanji characters in relief on bamboo. It can be rolled up and carried like a scroll. All the Kanji characters are beautifully carved. The color is also beautiful with a unique gradation.
What is written on it are the teachings of 朱子 Shu Zi Xi.

The *"Zhūzǐ Zhìjiā Géyán"* (朱子治家格言), or "Maxims for Managing the Family" by Zhu Xi, a Confucian scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty in China, is a collection of teachings on how to maintain harmony and order in family life.
