RARE! Japanese Antique BIZEN 1700s jar Ryukyu porcelain vase is name "devil's arm" ceramic hand craft H9.8in/H25cm.
This pottery jar was made during the Ryukyu Kingdom period. The islands of present-day Okinawa.
These pots were made for transporting shochu on ships.
What makes it unique is its name. It is called “devil's arm" Oni no ude. Its name is derived from its weighty rod shape and the fact that it was used as a weapon in battles with pirates on ships, and it was prized as a flower vase, as were Hanbin vases from southern China and other vases.
Unfortunately, these cannot hold water for long periods of time because water seeps out through invisible cracks.
However, this old-fashioned atmosphere is very cool and recommended to be displayed on a shelf.
It has a rugged coolness and an interesting story.
