LARGE! Japanese vintage large Cat doll MANEKINAKO white cat old ceramic money box, Welcome cat, Fortune cat, Lucky cat 1960s H13.6in/H34.5cm.

The beckoning cat is a uniquely Japanese good-luck charm that invites good fortune with its adorable pose. They are said to have originated in the Edo period (1603-1868) in the culture of the townspeople of Edo (present-day Tokyo), and their popularity has spread throughout Japan. They are popular among collectors even today, not only because of the different benefits depending on the color of the raised hand and the left or right side of the cat, but also because of the different expressions of the cats depending on their place of origin and time period.

A white cat that is believed to bring good luck. It is rather large in size and has a great impact. In particular, the beard and other parts have disappeared with age, which also gives it a lovely impression. The subtle coloring of the nose and other features emphasizes the eyes, creating a cute look.
This beckoning cat also raises its left hand, which is meant to attract people.
A beckoning cat with its left hand raised is said to be a female cat, which is believed to bring people-related good fortune, such as prosperous business and good relationships.
They are often chosen for places where people want to invite customers, such as stores and companies, and for people who want to find love and marriage partners.

Interestingly, the smaller the amount of koban the cat is carrying, the older it is likely to be. The smaller the amount of koban, the older the cat. Note that beckoning cats of the Edo period do not have koban.

It is recommended to place it in a store to wish for prosperous business.
