Japanese vintage small bronze bell crow TENGU amulet Japanese with Kanji mark Paper weight metal ornament doll 1950s H1.5in/H3.8cm.
In Japan, it has long been believed that the ringing of a bell is meant to invoke and purify the gods. In this sense, the bell is an important tool in Japan to connect with the gods.
The motif of this bell is a legendary creature called the 鴉天狗raven tengu.
It is a 天狗tengu with a bird-like face. Tengu is also said to be a mountain god. On the back is inscribed 那智山 Mt. Nachi. Nachi is a powerful power spot in Japan.
