Japanese vintage ornament 1950s DARUMA doll statue, ceramic statue Buddhist monk priest ZEN master H7×W3in/H17.7×7.5cm.
The motif "達磨Daruma" is a Buddhist monk who introduced Buddhism from India to China. He is called "Zen master".
This daruma is a standing figure staring sideways.
It was made by imitating the appearance of "Daruma " "zazen".
"zazen" is to correct the posture by cross-legging and unite the spirit at the border of relentless dreaming.
The brush-like item you hold in your hand is called a 払子Hossu. This is a bundle of animal hair, hemp, and other fibers with a handle attached, and was originally a tool used in India to drive away insects such as mosquitoes and flies.
This one has a cool atmosphere with the color change over time.
