This is one of the tools of the tea ceremony and is called a 水指mizusashi. It is a vessel used to add water to the tea kettle and to store water for washing tea bowls and tea whisks.
Like tea bowls, there are various types of mizusashi, and you can enjoy changing the item you use from time to time depending on the tea bowl, the season, and your taste.
This is a pottery called 黄瀬戸Ki-seto.
Ki-Seto is one of the major styles of 美濃Mino ware produced during the 桃山Momoyama period (1573-1600). As the word suggests, Ki-Seto means yellow-glazed Seto ware. The handmade shape of this pottery, which is made by hand on a potter's wheel, has a gentle distortion, which also makes it interesting.
Another feature is the stamped floral design. These stamps are also all handmade.
The deliberately distorted body, finished in a pale beige-yellow, creates an elegant impression. The author's seal is engraved on the reverse side. It is in excellent condition and ready for immediate use.
