Japanese vintage fine hand paint and block printing art of Tale of Genji/ Wisteria flower with Kanji Kimono Design H8.1×W12.2in/H20.5×W31cm.

It is based on one of the stories of the Heian period, The 源氏物語 Tale of Genji. The Tale of Genji describes the life and love of aristocrats in the Heian period.
The story is called 藤の裏葉 “Wisteria's Back Leaves.” In this story, a young man is in love with a princess, and although his parents tear him apart, the princess refuses to give up, and a wisteria banquet is held at which he is finally accepted and married.

The background is uniquely switched in the center of the entire painting.
The wisteria flowers and a pine tree in the center are depicted. On the pedestal are festive offerings such as sweets. On the left side, cranes are flying in silver, beautifully holding pine trees in their mouths. The entire piece overflows with a festive atmosphere.
