Japanese old hanging paper lantern Candle holder with Japanese confectionery shop name and its crest W15in/W38cm, foldable lantern
This paper and wood lantern has "奈良屋菓子店 Naraya confectionary shop" written in Kanji characters on the front and its crest on the back. This crest is designed with a fan and the kanji for "one." In ancient times, fanning was believed to "beckon gods and spirits" by sending out a breeze.
These lanterns were strung together on a rope and hung up for shrine festivals.
It is made from thinly shaved wooden planks, split bamboo strips, and paper. A candle can be hold with a needle at the bottom of LED candles can be inserted and enjoyed immediately.
Some tears and stains on paper. There is no major damage that would make it problematic to use.
