The orange, gold, black, and green marble hues harmonize beautifully in an organic atmosphere.
This technique is called 津軽塗り Tsugaru lacquerware and is one of Aomori Prefecture's traditional crafts.
In lacquerware, it's called Togidashi Henshin-nuri, an extremely time-consuming technique that takes over 40 steps and two months to complete.
The shells are decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, giving them a brilliant shine in places.

There are some scuffs and scratches on the top and sides, but this does not affect their use and they can be used as is. The base is large enough to display bonsai or ornaments, or to use as a tray or stand for tea utensils.
