Japanese antique 1890s kiln art sake cup ceramic with black gold Lacquer "sakazuki" "guinomi" with wooden box For GIFT W2.9in/W7.4cm

This pottery is a very rare type of sake cup.
The reason why it is unusual is that it combines two different materials, pottery and lacquer.
The outer surface is black urushi with a golden grass-like design in maki-e (gold lacquer). The inside is a pale yellowish green glaze with Chinese characters such as “flower” and “willow” written on it, giving it a unique poetic atmosphere. The rim is gold.
This pottery was also made at a kiln that no longer exists.
Although the lineage of this pottery has now died out, there is another type of pottery called “豊楽Toyoraku-yaki” that was handed down in the central part of Owari from the Edo period to the Taisho period (1912-1926).
It is stamped on the back with the name “豊楽Toyoraku. The box is not original, but from a later period.
