Japanese antique porcelain small vase indigo blue with botanical hand painting beautiful "KOIMARI" Edo craft 1800s H4.9×2.2in/H12.5×5.2cm

It is a small jar, probably an item made by a craftsman for fun rather than for practical use.
Of course, it is possible to display small flowers.
This was made in the early Edo period. It still retains its simplicity as a pottery, which also makes it gentle and comforting.
In Japan, the technique of porcelain was introduced by craftsmen who came from the Korean Peninsula around the early Edo period.
At that time, many items with precise patterns and vivid colors were produced in Japan for the Western market.
However, the number of such pottery items that retain a strong Yi Dynasty atmosphere is small, and items without cracks are precious.
This fluffy, soft atmosphere and rustic imperfection are the charm of pottery from this period.
A young pine tree is depicted at the center and wild flowers and grasses are around it. aThis painting is said to be based on the motif of flowers and grasses. There are also patterns on its shoulder.

"古伊万里KOIMARI" is limited to"Imari " ware made during the "Edo" period, and very popular in japan.
"IMARI" ware originated in China in the early 17th century.
"染付SOMETSUKE" is a porcelain painted with a pattern of indigo on a white background.
In this work, in addition to "SOMETSUKE" technique, glaze is layered to create a relief-like three-dimensional feeling.
Works that have a taste that passes over time. This technique, called inban, came into vogue after the use of some-zuke.
