Japanese antique hanging scroll of water color painting on silk, ikebana, flower basket, Fruits KAKEJIKU with BOX 1920s H61in/H155cm.
This hanging scroll is very old and beautiful with a very old silk ground around it. The overall atmosphere of age as a hanging scroll is cool.
It depicts a Ikebana and a flower basket, Fruits.
It is signed Ryu-rikyo. This artist was born in Nara Prefecture in the mid-Edo period and was one of the pioneers of literati painting. The painting is thought to be a copycat, but the surrounding fabric is so old and luxurious that it was probably made for the amusement of the rich.
The silk fabric is very gorgeously woven with dragons and chrysanthemums. It is painted on silk and the shaft end is coated with reddish brown lacquer on wood.
Another hanging scroll made of the same silk fabric is listed. Please take a look.
