Handmade Japanese Lantern Hinoki Washi LED Sensor Table Lamp 25cm

Softly glowing in natural tones, the room warmed by a handmade japanese lantern feels tranquil and invites quiet reflection. Constructed from hinoki (Japanese cypress) and translucent washi paper printed with a gold asanoha hemp leaf design, this cordless LED sensor table lamp blends traditional andon craftsmanship with modern battery-operated convenience. Lightweight and flame-free, the lantern's layered wooden frame produces sculptural depth and a diffuse, ambient light ideal for bedside, hallway, or washroom placement. Handcrafted in limited small batches by Japanese artisans, each unit creates a minimalist, wabi sabi accent that complements Japandi, zen room lighting, and contemporary interiors.

Design & Materials

The lamp pairs hinoki wood with traditional washi paper to form a refined wooden bedside light that reads as both traditional and contemporary. The gold asanoha hemp leaf design is printed on translucent washi, allowing subtle patterning to appear when the LED is lit and to remain an elegant object when unlit. The composition supports a wabi sabi aesthetic and integrates naturally into Japandi table light schemes or minimalist accent arrangements.

Lighting & Operation

An internal LED provides even, indirect illumination through the washi paper. The unit includes both motion and ambient-light sensors so the lamp can operate in "AUTO" sensor-activated mode or be set to constant "ON." As a battery operated lamp with no external cord, it functions as a cordless night lamp and can be placed where outlet access is limited. Batteries required: 3 AAA (not included).

Craftsmanship & Care

Each lantern is handcrafted using a layered assembly technique that separates and reconstructs the wooden frame to create three-dimensional interior depth; this results in sculptural shadows and a soft diffusion unique to handmade construction. Because materials are natural hinoki and washi, avoid prolonged exposure to direct moisture or extreme heat. Clean gently with a dry, soft cloth; do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

Recommended Placement

Designed as a subtle presence for entryways, hallways, bedroom entrances, washrooms, and bedside tables, the lamp works as motion sensor decor to guide late-night movement without harsh light. Its compact 25 cm height and 10 cm square footprint suit small tables, shelves, and narrow consoles, making it an effective minimalist accent and zen room lighting solution.
