FINE! RARE! Japanese antique Edo 1600s Big tobacco smoking pipe Silver Brass with Dragon case Metal engraving KISERU craft 11.8in/30cm.
This set of smoking pipes is a very rare item. It is called a 喧嘩煙管
KENKA-KISERU fighting smoking pipe.
From the Warring States Period to the early Edo Period, people called 歌舞伎Kabuki people, and they had this type of smoking pipe.
It is said that they carried this type of smoking pipe. They liked to dress flamboyantly, wear exotic items, and often acted out of the norm. Not only that, they also had a strong artistic sense, including tea ceremony and waka poetry
. However, because they were townspeople, they were forbidden to carry swords and other weapons like the samurai. However, it is said that they carried these kiseru as weapons to defend themselves against the Shogunate's SS and for other purposes.
For this reason, the chains attached to the case are very rugged, large, and conspicuous. The case is also very cool. Overall, it is very large and made of thick leather. The large chains are all made of silver, and the case has a beautiful, precise dragon engraving on it.
This was not only for fashion but also to let people know that you are wearing it.
The atmosphere of aging has made it even cooler.
The case is in good condition and has some scuffs and fraying, but there is no major damage and it can be used immediately. The inside of the case is divided into three sections.
Dragons have been valued as very auspicious beings in Japan and Asia. It is a being of wisdom and power, and a symbol of rising fortune.
It is an antique but in good condition and can be used immediately. The smoking pipe is made of bamboo and very thick brass,
It is heavy and powerful. Scratches and discoloration over time make it even cooler.
It is of course possible to use it.
