FINE! Japanese vintage cast iron kettle For Tea ceremony with Signed copper lid crane bird Chagama with BOX H7.9×9.8in/H20×25cm Ready to use.

"茶釜Chagama" Teakettle for tea ceremony. This kettle is called a 田口釜 taguchi-gama, and is one of the shapes of a 茶の湯 chanoyu kettle, with a slightly smaller mouth, a slightly gouged shape with the base of the mouth lower than the shoulder, and a groove around the mouth.
Taguchi-gama is said to have gotten its name from the fact that it looks like the surface of a rice paddy when filled with water.
It is a type of beautiful kettle shape.
The sides are decorated with a couple of cranes flying over a pine tree and reliefs of plum and bamboo. The artist's name is also in relief under the round ring, called an ear, where a removable handle, called a ring, hangs.
What makes this tea kettle even more special is that it is coated with lacquer on the outside, making it difficult to get water stains and other marks. This is done only on high-end tea kettles, even those in wooden boxes, do not have this treatment.

辰敏 Tatsutoshi Hashimoto is a renowned kamashi (metal craftsman) from Higashi-Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, known for his work in crafting traditional tea ceremony utensils, particularly iron kettles (tetsubin) and chagama (tea kettles). He is often referred to as the "Kamashi of Naniwa" (Naniwa being an old name for Osaka), highlighting his deep roots in the region's craftsmanship traditions. His works, such as kettles featuring chrysanthemum and paulownia crests, are highly regarded for their aesthetic and technical excellence. Hashimoto’s creations are cherished by tea ceremony practitioners and collectors alike.
