This copper plate features a beautifully carved dragon relief. Its overall appearance has deepened in color over time. Clouds are designed around the central dragon.
Originally, it was used by monks for alms-giving. Alms-giving refers to the practice where monks, as part of their training, stand by roadsides or in front of houses holding a bowl (hachi), chant sutras, and receive offerings of rice or money.
It comes in a wooden box with a wooden stand included, so it can be displayed immediately.
