FINE! Japanese antique porcelain 蕎麦猪口SOBACHOKO Beautiful hand painting 10 cups KUTANI horses and floral pattern with kanji signature H2.6in 1890sEdo~Meiji era.
These are called 蕎麦猪口SOBACHOKO. Originally, they were tableware used to hold buckwheat noodle soup and other dishes. Recently, however, they are also popular as cups for tea and sake.
These are very beautiful cups made from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. It is wonderful that they remain like this with no major damage.
The items came from the storehouse of an aristocratic family, and there are 10 more identical cups. They were made to order and have a very lovely depiction of a couple of horses playing. The rim is made in the shape of a flower, and the inside also has a fine hand-drawn pattern in pale indigo color. The animal design is rare and highly recommended.
There is also a signature in Kanji characters on the back. There are just a few small chips on the back base and other parts, but they are not a problem for use.
It is recommended for a wedding party or as a gift.
