FINE! 1920s Japanese antique bamboo woven basket signed in smoke stained color with Inner vase For IKEBANA Tea ceremony, Hana-kago H16.9in/H43cm.
Bamboo flower basket with the beautiful color of bamboo over time.
Bamboo of this color is called 煤竹SUSUDAKE sooty bamboo, and is characterized by its unique brownish-brown or candy-colored discoloration, which comes naturally from being smoked in the smoke of an open hearth over a period of 100 years or more. The basket is handmade and carefully woven and a craftsman's signature is carved at the bottom. The browning color of the bamboo over time is very cool and has an antique charm.
This is a set of inner case made of a bamboo. Its interior wall is partially damaged as seen in pictures. Yet no problem for use since it is insulated with a thin iron plate to keep water.
It is in very good condition and ready to use.
