FINE! Japanese antique 1800s watercolor painting scroll fine painted fish carps, KAKEJIKU with signed seal H64.2in/H163cm.
This old hanging scroll is made of paper and silk.
This image of two 鯉 KOI/ carp suspended in midair was a popular motif during the Edo period. Although it originated in ancient Chinese tales, it is usually depicted as a pair of carp symbolizing marital harmony and prosperity of descendants.
This double carp motif has been painted by various artists, including Chinese painters and, in Japan, Ito Jakuchu.
Unfortunately, the details of the artist are unknown, but it is a copy of a work by an old Chinese painter. However, it was painted in the late Edo period. The touch also feels influenced by the style of ukiyo-e.
The delicate lines and overall balance are wonderful, and it has a powerful presence. The shades of the carp's scales are also beautifully expressed.
Bamboo leaves are also painted at the top, making it a unique hanging scroll that evokes a sense of coolness.
□ Size: H 64.2in × W 17.1in(about H163cm×W43.5cm)
□ Weight : 10.7oz (303g)
□ Material : paper, silk ,
□ Boxed : Paulownia box
condition...
You can enjoy displaying it right away. Due to its age, there is a crease and tear in one part of the painting. There are also some small peeling and stains. However, overall it is in good condition.
