FINE! 1897s Japanese Antiques buddhist hanging lantern gold brass metal hexagonal , lotus design, from Buddhist temple H13.8in/H35cm.

These large lanterns were hung inside Buddhist temples. Lanterns of this size are usually hung around altars enshrining large Buddhist statues.
The golden color of the brass is very beautiful, and the discoloration over time makes it even cooler. Unlike modern items, these are all handmade and luxuriously crafted. It is thick and gives a sense of massive luxury.
The shade of this lantern was made to resemble a lotus flower, which can be seen from above.
Nature motifs such as clouds, waves, and flowers are arranged throughout the lantern.
The openwork of the window is particularly beautiful. Dedication, August 1897, is inscribed on the lower part.

The two windows can be opened, and each window is covered with old paper, but there are several torn sections. They can be removed by pulling up the claws. Inside there is a dish for placing candles or other objects. At that time, oil was used here.
It is ready to use.
