FINE! 1800s Meiji-Edo Set of 5 Japanese antique small plates porcelain dishes, beautiful Silver and Red Kutani Seven Hermits 4.9in/12.5cm.

This is a wonderful set of plates.
This pottery is called Kutani and was made in the late Edo period. It is a type of 九谷Kutani pottery called 赤絵Akae.
This is one of them, 飯田屋Iidaya style, from 1831 to 1831, the 2nd year of 天保Tempo.
Over 100 years old but clean with no chips.
The arabesques are painted in silver on a red ground in a very detailed manner, and are very beautiful when exposed to light. In the center are six hermit-like figures. They are probably depicting Chinese intellectuals of the time discussing Chinese poetry and other topics.
The kimono of each person is painted in a different pattern, making the painting a delight to behold.
It comes in a wooden box and is recommended as a special gift.

It is in very good condition, but There are small scratches and dirt due to aging. If you look closely, there are a few areas where the color has faded due to rubbing.
