BIG! Japanese antique 1800s porcelain Sake bottle for shrine altar, large vase "KOIMARI" KINTSUGI Kanji flower design hand painting H13.8in.
This shape, called 瓶子heishi, is a type of jar, a container with a narrow rim that was used mainly as a drinking vessel in the Middle Ages.
This is a special item. And This is a very rare and actually a large jar that was offered at a shrine in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. On the front, the word "御寶前Gohouzen" is written in Chinese characters. The meaning of this word is the presence of God or Buddha.
The overall shape is beautiful, and it is very precious that this large size is preserved in a beautiful condition. This vase has been restored with Kintsugi and has been carefully used. Kintsugi is a technique to repair pottery using lacquer and gold.
The beautiful flowers are vividly painted in red and other colors. On the lower part of the front, a pine branch is painted in indigo.
"KOIMARI" is limited to"Imari " ware made during the "Edo" period, and very popular in japan.
"IMARI" ware originated in China in the early 17th century.
"SOMETSUKE" is a porcelain painted with a pattern of indigo on a white background.
In this work, in addition to "SOMETSUKE" technique, glaze is layered to create a relief-like three-dimensional feeling.
Works that have a taste that passes over time.
