This antique Japanese mirror from the Edo period is a bronze mirror featuring exquisite pine tree relief art and Kanji engraved mirror details, housed in a traditional wooden case lacquered for protection. This antique Japanese mirror was crafted in the late 1800s by Fujiwara Masasige, a renowned mirror maker, and served as a geisha mirror accessory. Measuring 12.7 inches high by 9.1 inches wide (32.3 cm x 23 cm), it weighs approximately 700 grams, while its wooden case adds another 420 grams and measures 15.4 inches by 10.6 inches (39 cm x 27 cm). The bronze surface showcases the symbolic pine tree from the Noh play "Takasago," representing longevity and conjugal love, making this piece both a functional item and a meaningful Japanese vintage ornament.

Key features of this Edo period mirror include:

- Bronze material with detailed pine tree relief art → enhances aesthetic appeal and cultural value

- Kanji inscriptions including "高砂 Takasago" and craftsman’s signature → authenticates historical origin

- Comes with a lacquered wooden case → protects the mirror and adds traditional Japanese lacquerware craftsmanship

- Dimensions: Mirror H12.7in x W9.1in x D0.2in; Case H15.4in x W10.6in x D1.2in

- Weight: Mirror 24.6oz (700g); Case 14.8oz (420g)

This samurai era decor item was used by geisha in Japan as an accessory, reflecting both artistry and utility from the period. Despite its age, the mirror remains in very good condition with minor scratches, some peeling lacquer on the case, and slight rust on metal surfaces consistent with authentic antique Japanese art pieces.

Additional details:

- The pine tree motif is derived from the traditional Noh play "Takasago," symbolizing harmony and long-lasting love.

- The mirror’s wood case features classic Japanese lacquerware techniques, enhancing durability.

- Authentic Edo period craftsmanship verified by Kanji signature of Fujiwara Masasige.
