Antique Japanese harp small KOTO 1910s Musical Instruments Toy W20.7in/W52.5cm

This is a smaller version of the koto, a traditional Japanese instrument.
This instrument is said to have been introduced from China during the Nara period.
The basic 琴 KOTO features a long, narrow resonating body approximately 182 cm (71 inches) in length, strung with 13 strings. Pegs are set at each string to determine its pitch, and sound is produced by plucking the strings with fingerpicks (koto-zume) worn on the three fingers of the right hand. This is a smaller version, but it is faithfully crafted according to the basic design.

Tuning is achieved by adjusting the position of the pegs. This allows for subtle changes in pitch, producing delicate tones with an elegant and captivating sound.
Despite its size, it is authentically crafted with sound holes on the back for resonance. It consists of thirteen strings, and this item also has thirteen strings.
It comes with a case and small picks called tsume(Nails), which are accessories worn during play.
