Handwritten on paper and mounted with silk, the kakejiku measures about 176cm tall and carries the Zen phrase "Taki chokka sanzenjō"—a waterfall image from Li Bai that evokes cleansing, ascetic practice, and summer coolness. Lightweight at 180g and supplied with its authentic signed wooden storage box, the scroll suits tea ceremony decor, wabi sabi wall art, meditation room art, or Japanese room decor. As a piece of japanese calligraphy and buddhist monk art, it functions both as contemplative zen wall art and as a focal tokonoma scroll for tea gatherings. The kakejiku format permits seasonal rotation and compact storage, which is central to tea room ritual.

Display and use

The scroll's vertical format and restrained brushwork make it suitable for minimalist Asian art installations, meditation alcoves, or a dedicated tea room. For tea ceremony decor, hang the scroll in the tokonoma at eye level for seated guests, allowing the calligraphy's vertical movement to complement the room's proportions. Pair with a simple flower arrangement or a single ceramic incense burner to preserve wabi sabi wall art balance and visual silence.

Care and handling

Handle the handwritten scroll with clean hands and minimal contact to the paper surface; support the roll core when unrolling to avoid creasing. Keep the scroll away from direct sunlight and high humidity to protect the ink, silk, and lacquered wood.
