Measuring 176cm tall and mounted on silk with wooden roller ends, this kakejiku is suited for a tokonoma, tea ceremony decor, or minimalist hanging where wabi sabi decor and Buddhist monk art are appreciated. Hand-rolled and boxed in wood, the vintage scroll retains signs of age—stains, wrinkles and patina—that underscore its authenticity and quiet mindfulness quality for seasonal display or as a thoughtful mindfulness gift for contemplative interiors today.

* Artist: Kanshū Hasegawa (1964–1997), monk at Sangen-in

* Inscription: "Kankan Rōgetsu Jin" (Look, the Last Month Is Ending)

* Size: H 176cm × W 30.5cm (H 69.3in × W 12in)

* Weight: 180g (6.3oz)

* Materials: ink on paper, silk mounting, wooden roller, lacquer accents

* Packaging: boxed in a wooden box

* Style & use: kakejiku, tokonoma scroll, tea ceremony decor, zen wall art, wabi sabi decor, meditation room art

* Condition: vintage scroll with stains, wrinkles and dirt consistent with age

About the calligraphy

Kanshū Hasegawa trained under Roshi Fujii Kaido and created tea utensils and calligraphy that reflect the fusion of Zen and tea. The inscription—drawn from the Kidōroku tradition—evokes the passage of time and invites present-moment attention. As Japanese calligraphy executed by a Buddhist monk, the brushwork emphasizes simplicity, rhythm, and restrained energy appropriate for a tea room or meditation alcove.

Materials and condition

The piece is ink on paper mounted to silk with wooden components and lacquer finish. The listing notes visible aging: stains, wrinkles and surface dirt that accompany an authentic vintage scroll.
