Set of 4 Japanese Antique 1910s green tea cups porcelain craft old 九谷KUTANI gold hand painting crane flower handcraft /sake cups /For GIFT.
This set consists of a 九谷Kutani Yaki cup and a milk pot. What we call a milk pot here is originally used to cool the water when drinking green tea.
It is recommended that these be used as a tokkuri (sake bottle) and sake cups for drinking sake.
They are called Kutaniyaki, and are glazed with a variety of colors, including gold.
The hand-painted pictures are beautiful. Fine patterns of people, cranes, chrysanthemum flowers, etc. are painted on them.
The cups are called Kutaniyaki and were first produced in Arita in 1655. In the Meiji period (1868-1912), Kutani Shozo's colored gold brocade became famous, and large quantities of Kutani ware were exported overseas. The Vienna Exposition of 1873 was the catalyst for this trend. The name "Japan Kutani".
The pieces are made with great care and time, as different glazes are fired at different temperatures over and over again.
Both are ready to use and make great gifts.
