Japanese vintage large "達磨Daruma" doll statue, ceramic statue Buddhist monk priest ZEN master H15.4in/H39cm.

達磨Daruma , the motif, is a Buddhist monk who introduced Buddhism from India to China. He is also called "Zen Master.

The brush-like object held in the hand is called a 払子hossu. It is made of bundles of animal hair, hemp, or other fibers with handles attached, and was originally a tool used in India to ward off mosquitoes, flies, and other insects.
It looks as if it is staring at something with a stern expression.

This one has a cool atmosphere with color changes over time. There is no major damage, but there is a small chip on the base.
