A Vessel of Light:
Originally used in Japanese households during the Edo period to hold rapeseed oil for lighting lamps, these small jars were essential to daily life. This specific piece is a beautiful example of Ko-Imari artistry, featuring a whimsical bird in flight and seasonal flowers. On its base, you will find the classic "Kaku-fuku"—the Kanji character for Happiness enclosed in a square—a traditional mark of quality and a charm for a prosperous home.

Condition:It is in very good condition, but there is some superficial wear due to age.
The Beauty of Wabi-Sabi Aging:
As an authentic 19th-century artifact, the porcelain displays charming characteristics of age:

Kannyu: Fine, superficial "crackle" lines in the glaze.
Furidama: Small black iron spots from the kiln firing.
These are not flaws but the "fingerprints" of antique pottery, distinguishing it from mass-produced modern imitations.
