FINE! Japanese hanging scroll water color painting of beautiful phoenix on Paulownia flower with signature 池田 in 1920s Kakejiku H79in/201cm.

In ancient China, it was believed that when a virtuous king ascended the throne, a 鳳凰 phoenix, a sign of good fortune, would appear.
The paulownia tree was revered as the tree where the phoenix dwelled. This painting depicts the beautiful legend of the phoenix in a mysterious atmosphere with meticulous brushwork.

The artist who created this work is 池田桃坡 Ikeda Tōha, a painter from the Meiji period. Born in Mie Prefecture in 1888, he was known for his delicate brushwork and expertise in depicting flowers and birds.
The painting is rendered on silk and mounted on silk. Upon closer inspection, one can notice a unique bat pattern woven into the fabric. The piece is in excellent condition and ready to be enjoyed. It comes in a wooden box, making it an ideal gift.
