This tea bowl is called Kiseto (黄瀬戸) Kiseto ware. Seto ware with a light yellow glaze.
Along with Shino ware, Oribe ware, and Setoguro ware, this tea bowl was fired at kilns in Mino (Gifu Prefecture) during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and was one of the favorites of tea masters such as Rikyu.
This shape is called tubular and is modeled after the shape of a bale. It is shaped like a rice bale cut in half and is considered an auspicious tea bowl.
Although it is called yellow, it is very gentle and elegant with a natural pale hue similar to beige. It is a very easy to use tea bowl that also shows the color of matcha.
It comes in a wooden box and is recommended as a gift.
